| Being true and natural is the life for fine art, and this is similarly common both in China and in the west. This paper, opening with the discussion of feature of art works, spirit of art works and form of art works, proves through large amount of examples in history that the life of art works is being true and natural, the property that any art works should possess. In view of the problems of showiness and over-flowery among the artistic production in China, the author raises again the question about the spirituality of art works, and analyzes in depth the subjective and objective reasons causing the problem.Only those naturally endowed can be of historica~ significance; only those inwardly sincere can be of artistic value indeed. The end of this paper shows a simple truth: In order to produce fine works of art, we need to breathe into art works the life of being true and natural. |
