Abstract/Summary:
My viewpoint is that Zhuangzi抯 aesthetics is based on the philosophy conception of life. Its essence is a kind of life aesthetics. In the dissertation I will study its background, special pattern, inter contradictions and its main difference to other life aesthetics and some effects to our contemporary aesthetics studies.The dissertation is divided into five parts.In the first part, I mainly study how the 搇ife?becomes the emphasis of Zhuangzi抯 aesthetics. It is the same character that all the philosophers have the sustemtible life consciousness; The old orient culture specially develops Zhuangzi抯 life consciousness; What抯 more, the civil war in China and Zhuangzi抯 conventional culture standpoint make Zhuangzi retreat from the society to his mind world. So the happiness and the pain affects Zhuangzi抯 aesthetics profoundly.How the natural life becomes a kind of aesthetic life is the main content in the second part. Zhuangzi thinks that ordinary life is limited and fancy, So the life should return to the nature by understanding the theory of Way. The human mustn抰 acquire other valuable things with their lives, So he turns against rational knowledge and the anger to the profits. He believes destiny completely, at last, he thinks the ideal life is Nothing-To-Do.The third part is the central idea in the paper. The main task is to study the paradox in Zhuangzi抯 life aesthetics. There -are many contradictions under the harmony appearance.The first paradox is that he killed the ego of spirit while he seeks for the freedom of spirit. His book expresses his pursuit to the free life. He completely gets rid of all the band of willing, profit and ethic. So most of the scholars think it is an ideal freedom of spirit. But it isn抰 the true fact. It is a kind of positive freedom to getting rid of the common tie, that it is not true free. When Zhuangzi attains this kind of freedom, he loses his main body. The main body and the spirit of freedom are lost in a state of confi.tsions nature, it is fancy and regrettable. The reason that the tragic happens is that Zhuangzi抯 absolutely freedom is subject and fancy. The human抯 social action---the real base of the freedom----is forgotten.The second one is the dual --effect brought by Zhuangzi抯 idea of playing-with-the-life. Lie runs from the real life to his mind and become a spectator. He devotes himself into life play by looking down on the sacred things in common life, but it caused a new contradiction against this idea, Zhuangzi抯 life aesthetics means that he loses all the3human抯 essences. The spirit of the main bodies withering caused Zhuangzi抯 life play to a wrong way. At last, it will causes another dissident of the humans nature.The forth part is a modern looking to Zhuangzi抯 life aesthetics, There are a similar culture background between Zhuangzi抯 life aesthetics and the modem western life aesthetics. In a word, the life aesthetics have many self-contradictions in every era, such as the nature and the society, the perceptual and the ration, etc. Now, we must think it rationally in order to overstep it. Only when we join the life of every person into the whole background of the human culture, the life aesthetics can attain a reliable base.
