Children's Portraits

A great number of outstanding children's literature has proved to us that it not only "write to children", but "write children". It is accompanied with the discovery of child, thus became a intuitive window of manifestation and knowledge of the children. At this point, no one definition or description of children can be more concrete and vivid than an image of child of children's literature. Like the painter can use pictures shows the persons unique qualities, the classic children's image is also the wonderful portrait of children created by the writers with the text.Fantasy is a very important and main type of children's literature, Its'emergence and new structure have necessary and close ties to children, It is the children themselves that create the new literary form. Therefore Fantasy has the unique advantage in shaping children images. This article selects the fiction that with the children as heroine as our model, by analyzing the structure style to see how they shape the children's images, and by analyzing the specific characters to experience what images they have shaped. On this basis we can find how the fantasy discover and present the children.The article is divided into three parts: The first part focuses on the distinct advantages of fantasy in shaping children's images. The second part is to analyze the specific images of children, and inspect several different levels and dimensions of the children. And the third part is to discuss some thoughts about the images of children. The first one is to discuss the relationship of the children and adults. And the other one is to show the confusion: Is it really that the childhood would disappear? And we'll refer to Neil Postman's view and Perry Nodelman's discussion to talk about this.
