The Ming dynasty was the development period of Shih Chi researches. Scholars in this period made great achievements not only in number but also in level. Comments were the distinguishing feature in Ming dynasty for Shih Chi researches. Shih Chi Ping Lin, written by Ling Zhilong, was the most famous researches of Shih Chi in the Ming dynasty, through which we can see the general situations of Shih Chi researches in this period. For this reason, the author tries to analyze the characteristics, the tendencies and the level of Shih Chi researches in the Ming dynasty through Shih Chi Ping Lin.This article mainly divided into four chapters.The first chapter can be divided into three parts. The first part summarizes the general situations of Shih Chi researches in the Ming dynasty, pointing out that earlier Ming dynasty was the pale period of Shih Chi researches. And the middle and later Ming dynasty were the prosperous period of studies. The second part introduces the background of Ling Zhilong's Shih Chi Ping Lin. The third part talks about the contents and compiling styles of Shih Chi Ping Lin.The second chapter to the fourth chapter is the main part of the article, which discusses Shih Chi researches in the Ming dynasty though three parts:the literary review, the historiography comments and the textual researches. The second chapter is the literature review, which anylizes the literary value of Shih Chi researches in the Ming dynasty through the following five pats:text structures, narrative techniques, appreciation of the beauty and analyzes of the paragraphs.The third part is the historiography comments, which mainly focus on calligraphy, historical figures and historical events. This is the most important part in this article. The fouth chapter is the textual researches of Shih Chi in the Ming dynasty, which includes three parts:the textual researches of historical facts, the supplement of old notes, and the textual researches of the name.The last chapter is the conclusion, which summarizes the achievements and the shortcomings of Shih Chi researches in the Ming dynasty.
