Shen Yue Yue Poetry

Among the literati of the Six Dynasties, Shen Yue had the most thorough research, as well as the greatest achievement, on Yue-fu poetry.Not only did he have in-depth research on the theory of Yue-fu poetry, but also write plenty of Yue-fu poetries himself, including both Elegant Yue-fu poetries such as the Temple Poem and other general Yue-fu poetries. However, as far as the current situation of academic research on Shen Yue and his poetries is concerned, the mainstream is focus on the'Rhyme Theory' of Shen Yue, the studies of his life and his research on poem sings of natural, while the research on Shen Yue's Yue-fu poetries is still the weak link. This thesis aims to discover Shen Yue's reformation and innovation in the creation of Yue-fu poetry and give him appropriate evaluation on his creative work in the literature history through finely research on his theories on Yue-fu poetry and Yue-fu view as well as the analysis on the creation characteristics of elegant and general Yue-fu poetry.Shen Yue's'Rhyme Theory' has great influence on literature theories of Chinese ancient poetry. The study on Shen Yue's poetry theory by this article concerns mainly in four aspect:the'Four tones'which has close relation to Yue-fu poetry, and the background of proposed'Rhyme Theory' which was based on the'Four tones'theory, the'Three Ease' theory, which is relative to the features and styles of Yue-fu poetry's language and color; Shen Yue's aesthetic ideal of poetry; and Shen Yue's views on literature history and Yue-fu poetry. This article does not provide an comprehensive study on Shen Yue's poetry theory, but discusses the analysis on his'Rhyme Theory' in the aspects of the Yue-fu creation related'Four tones', its background and evaluations, etc.The author's research on Shen Yue's poetry is mainly based on text analysis on the background, subjects, contents, artistic characteristics of Shen Yue's Yue-fu poetry creation, which emphasizes the artistic innovation and features of his Yue-fu creation such as language, forms and styles, techniques, etc. The research on Temple Poem (Elegant Yue-fu poetry) analyzes the innovation and characteristics of the contents, forms and languages of Shen Yue's Temple Poetry, mainly based on the historical event that his Temple Poem lyrics was discarded shortly after by Liang Wudi in his time.Furthermore, the thesis investigates the external and internal cause of the discard of Shen Yue's Temple Poetries, as well as his personal enemies. The final chapter summarizes the achievements of Shen Yue's Yue-fu creation. In three dimensions of the position of Shen Yue's creation in the literature history, the relation between his creation and poems, and the transformation of the aesthetic taste of Yue-fu poetry, this article finishes the analysis on the impact of Shen Yue's creation, and renders a proper evaluation to nis role in the evolution of poetry.The writing of this thesis avoids centering on Shen Yue's'Rhyme Theory', but focuses on reviewing his Yue-fu poetries in both systems of Yue-fu poetry and Yue-fu history.This research adheres to Yue-fu poetic tradition, focuses on Shen Yue's innovation and reformation, and concerns on the interaction between Shen Yue's Yue-fu poetry and scholar poems, thereby grasping the new trends and new features of Yue-fu poetry when it developed to the period of Shen Yue, and rendering a proper evaluation to his role in the evolution of Yue-fu poetry.
