The association, referring to the place of sacrificing the god of land, evolved a level administrative organization, and became one part of the village administrative system. During the Wei, Chin and the South and North Dynasties, the private association emerged, then rised in the period of Sui and Dang Dynasty. Private association, also called "She", "Sheyi", "Yiyi", consists of some voluntary and spontaneous people, so this kind of association is also referred to as civilian association. Using the concept of civilian association is mainly emphasized its sociality and civilian. The activity of civilian association mainly includes engaged in the Buddhist activities and economic interaction. The Buddhist activities contact with Buddhism inevitably. Civilian association engaged in Buddhist practice activities include sculpture, building towers, carving, reading and writing the Buddhist Scriptures, repairing temples and so on, also include some other social welfare undertakings. Due to the general public religious beliefs are often excluded from the historical records of the traditional historians, the civilian associations just record the social life and spiritual beliefs of ordinary people for research providing the historical basis. So this paper to folk association reflecting the public belief in Buddhism during Sui and Tang dynasties as the research object, combining folk association and religious beliefs, creates a new perspective for the research of civilian association and religion.Because of the popular Buddhism, the ordinary people form the strong Buddhist association. Meanwhile the civilian association promote the Buddhist's development, which engaged in Buddhist practice activities including sculpture, building towers, carving, reading and writing the Buddhist Scriptures, repairing temples. So civilian association and Buddhism influence each other mutually. From civilian association of Buddhist activities, we can see that, in the one hand, the Buddhist faith of folk association members is pious, and on the other hand, the Buddhist faith of ordinary people is utilitarian. Buddhism can attract and incited the civilians joining the folk association becaused of the Buddhist redeemed properties. This exceeds the orthodoxy of Confucianism. Conservative confucianism orthodox make people lack of realistic imagination, then people turn in the Buddhism, which and salvation the suffering people. But the Buddhism as an alien's institutionalized religions, its ethical value in China's social practice exist some unavoidable limitations, so Buddhism can't be like to develop a social structure system of ethics system to adapt to the demand of social reality. The Confucian ethic value in society is still in a dominant position. Nonetheless, the social open atmosphere during the Sui and Dang Dynasty, influenced the ordinary people's religious beliefs together. This paper from the perspective of the ordinary people's Buddhist beliefs, through analysing the data collection about association, contacting history, sociology, folklore research methods, paying close attention to folk association's Buddhist practice activities and religious functions, the Buddhist faith consciousness, and the relationship about folk association and Buddhist temples, investigate the Buddhist faith status of the ordinary people, to recreate the peak of the Buddhism development. On this problem for a study also enables us to broaden our horizons, transform the angle, realize the development about the Buddhist.
