The Lisu Bamboo Books, And The Naxi The Geba Text Created Characters Mechanism Study

Wang Renbo, who was one of Lisu people in Weixi Yunnan Province, created Lisu Zhushu only by himself in1920s.The character is written on the bamboo.It is named Ma Dang Tong E in Lisu, which is Bamboo Character. It is known as Lisu Syllabic Language,or Lisu Word for short. It is a kind of immature phonetic script having some pictograph function. A word expresses a syllable. There are variant syllabogram. It is a put-together script which combines borrowing word with coined word. It mainly borrows from Chinese character, Naxi Dongba script and Naxi Geba script. At present the research about Lisu Zhushu is a state of seeking in academia.Naxi Geba script is syllabic language which was created by ancient Naxi, living in southwest border. It is a kind of immature syllabic language,still in use today. Its main use is to write scriptures by the Dongba.They writes scriptures directly, or mark on Dongba script to indicate syllable in scriptures. The character mainly distributes along the Lijiang town near the county seat and Weixi. But its application is not so as Dongba script. As for text properties, it is a put-together script which combines borrowing word with coined word. It mainly borrows from Chinese character, Tibetan and Dongba script. Its feature is that a word expresses a syllable. Moreover, letter sound and tone are uncertainty. And many plyphes express a syllable. That is to say,there are variant syllabogram. The study of Geba script focus on three main areas, collection and coordination of books, compilation of dictionaries, studies of Geba script.At present the research about Lisu Zhushu and Naxi Geba script is not enough in academia. Under the guidance of comparative written languages and general written languages, the thesis takes Lisu Zhushu and Naxi Geba script as the materials. Based on the previous studies, we explore the character-form mechanisms of those two writing. We focus on the formation of characters.The dissertation is divided into four parts:Chapterâ… :Introduction. This part introduces relevant concepts. It also presents the two writings and the research; stating the research object, the research value, research method and the research material.Chapterâ…¡:We compare the original graphs from imitating mechanism and import mechanism,and then draw out their similarities and differences. We also give an analysis of the impacts of the two character-form mechanisms on the character form of original graphs.Chapterâ…¢:The chapter compares the new graphs from transformation mechanism, then draw out their similarities and differences. We also give an analysis of the impacts of transformation mechanism on the character form of new graphs.Chapter IV:Conclusion. Summaries of the preamble is the main content. And we come to some conclusion by means of comparison of character-form mechanisms of the two writings.
