Contemporary Urban Sculpture Public Aesthetic Value Orientation

Contemporary Sculpture has been extremely widespread in modern city. As a public art, urban sculpture should have the public and artistic quality while the artistic quality is included in the public nature. It is a pity that contemporary urban sculpture is lack of public nature which made it can't play a full role in spreading urban culture and comforting the soul of the citizens.With the rapid development of contemporary urban sculpture in our country, a range of issues related have been not only attacked academics professional attention, but also get the corresponding impact and evaluation among citizens. Contemporary urban sculpture is large in number, has more diverse artistic languages and larger scale of the theme. But why a significant proportion of the contemporary urban sculptures can not earn experts and the public's praise? How should we understand the public's preferences towards contemporary urban sculpture? What factors determine the shape of contemporary urban sculpture? How can contemporary urban sculpture play its proper spiritual and humanistic values? This article attempts to display the emergence and development of urban sculpture, analysis of the mechanisms of contemporary urban sculpture on the current situation, try to explore the root causes of problems and reach the cause in the view of both history and reality to support the modern urban sculpture developing.Now academia has been paid more attention to the contemporary urban sculpture, but in terms of publications on urban sculpture, there are more pictures rather than theoretical research; in terms of the topic urban sculpture, there are more small articles rather than books, focus more on local works rather than context in the era of the modern city; on the point of the study, the majority are in the field of professional research rather than aesthetic value.Current studies about urban sculptures always focus on researching how to create and the evaluation of the creation, which can not solve the fundamental problems existing. In order to achieve contemporary urban sculpture's public and asthmatic value, this paper will study the current situation that the contemporary urban sculpture is short of the public nature and try to find out the reason in terms of history impact and mechanisms of urban sculpture creation to provide advices to solve the existing problems in order to realize contemporary urban sculpture's aesthetic value.
