Wang Zhixin Vocal Works Of Folk Tales

Wang Zhixin is one of Chinese leading contemporary composers of national vocal music. He analyses traditional folk songs, local opera and folk tone materials, while he heavily draws on national folk songs, opera and various musical performance practices, combined with techniques of Western modern composition to make a bold exploration. Through a variety of rhythm, meter and tempo as well as the changes of mode and tonality, he created a great quantity of excellent national vocal music works which are nationality, scientific, artistic, and epochal.Rich in national characteristics, varieties and a wide range of subjects, Wang Zhixin's vocal works has kinds of characteristics which are worthy of our studies. To research Wang Zhixin's most influential and representative folk balled vocal music, this paper is mainly study their art characteristics and recreation processing.The paper proceeds as three parts. In the first section is an overview, followed by two sub-sections. The first sub-section describes Wang Zhixin himself and his creative process. The other sub-section explains his artistic characteristics, generally falling into four categories: borrowed lyric theme, reality theme, poetry theme and folk theme.Section two outlines the artistic characteristics of folk ballad vocal music. The first sub-section is the national character of the melody tone materials. The second sub-section is the creation of integrated Chinese and Western techniques features of composition. The third one is compatible features of music and lyrics. The last sub-section is the characteristics of Run cavity technique. As an example,'Lan Huahua','Mengjiang Girl','Zhao Jun Crosses the Frontier pass'and'Mulan Joins the army' have been analyzed and discussed the folk ballad vocal music, in order to know the style and characteristics of folk ballad vocal music.To use'Zhao Jun Crosses the Frontier pass'as an example, part three gives a detailed interpretation of recreation of folk ballad vocal music. This part has been divided into two sections. Knowing the preliminary connotation and style, through analyzing the historical figures in this kind of vocal music, is the first step. The following two sections are emotional interpretation and elaborated singing processing.In a word, rooted in the tradition of vocal music, Wang Zhixin's folk ballad vocal music has a breakthrough in innovation and contributes to Chinese national music by broadening the horizon and expanding the thoughts. Considering the higher requirements of Wang Zhixin's works which are singers'artistic accomplishments and singing skills, author summarizes and analyzes Wang Zhixin's folk balled vocal music which consists of works'artistic characteristics and recreation, in order to improve our own singing performance and teaching as well as provide valuable consequences to enrich this field.
