British Bangladeshi writer Monica Ali's debut Brick Lane is a description of Bangladeshi immigrants living in the UK where the situation and for the outstanding attitude, this works both very important in contemporary British literature and world literature. This paper, based on feminist and other related theories, by analysing the image of Nazneen and revealing the living conditions and psychologies of women immigrants, depicts the transformation of the heroine Nazneen who awaken her own self consciousness and achieved self definition.This paper consists of introduction, body (three chapters), and conclusion:Introduction:introduces the position and significance of Monica Ali and Brick Lane and briefs literature review concerning foreign and domestic studies on the novel. Beside, the layout and study methods of the thesis are described.The first chapter analyzes the female protagonist Nazneen who is lack of women self-awareness. Methods outlined by the core word, namely, by "obedience", "resigning to fate," "forget" to show the lack of self-awareness of women.The second chapter analyzes the female protagonist Nazneen awakening of female self-consciousness. Mainly analyses the elements which promoted the process, including the change of circumstances, interpersonal relations and her self-examination. The consciousness of self-awareness gradually awakening,in the process of female self-consciousness she is bound to suppress women tradition of self-awareness in Bangladesh, patriarchy, and religion to resist.The third chapter analyzes the female protagonist Nazneen establishment of self-consciousness. Nazneen through economic independence, personal independence, the spirit of independence, and thus break free of dependence on men, as a self-fulfilling, which will eventually establish a female self-awareness, self-established position in the world, as in the exotic life, life is full of hope and confidence in the strong women.Conclusion:To investigate the Monica·Ali's Brick Lane which is the creation of the importance of feminist literary criticism,Ali is not only the star of contemporary British literary,but also the star of the world. As a creation which describes the lives and psychologies of immigrants in the third world, Brick Lane can be regarded as a supplementary to Naipaul and Salman Rushdie's works, which is beneficial to the development of world literature.
