Realism And Reality

This article will start from the phenomenon that there are particular misunderstandings of the realism facts in contemporary Chinese painting realm, discuss the difference between naturalism and realism, and explore the methods to better deliver realism facts through the painting practice. Firstly, I will clarify and compare the definitions of likeness, naturalism, reality, and realism as artistic terms by referring to dictionaries and correlative documents; figure out that how people cognize truth in a historical scale; unveil the relations between images and realism paintings. Secondly, I will review the history of Chinese realism painting and its relevant references, especially the influence of soviet painting and its intense interest on people, life, and reality. At last, base on the situation of contemporary Chinese realism painting development, I will further investigate its outlook, and discuss how we should use painting as a media to deliver the realism facts, and also more important to present our own voices.
