Hou Ling was one of the forerunners of Chinese art education after reform and opening-up. He was also a specialist who had been worked at the first-line work of school teaching for many years in the theory and practice of art education. He made full use of the advantages and did the research of school's art education. This became the bridge of commutations between the theory and practice. Hou Ling's research of art education was done with the development of Chinese art education after reform and opening-up. He made outstanding contributions of introducing the western theories and putting them into the practices of Chinese art education, which broaden our vision and infused new blood of the development of our country's art education. Through the study of Hou Ling's art education thought, we can know the history of Chinese art education after reform and opening-up, which could provide the important reference data for the juniors' research. We can also clearly see the growth process of a front-line art teacher, This can provide the helpful suggestions and decisive guidance to the contemporaries and juniors.There are three sections in this thesis:in the first section, the author briefly introduced Hou Ling's life and systermatically and deeply analyzed the reasons of the formation-cause of Hou Ling's thoughts on art education; In the second section, the author made an assay of the key contents of Hou Ling's thoughts on art education; In the third section, the author elaborated the theoretical contribution and realistic meaning of Hou Ling's thoughts on art education.
