Jane Austen is considered as one of the most notable female novelists of the 19th century. She is adept at shaping various characters, and she writes altogether six novels in her life long career. Middle and old females are charming though they are not so well-focused as those young females in Jane Austen's novels. They build up Jane Austen's literature world together with those young female figures.The first part of this essay discusses the major kinds of middle and old females in her works. The characteristics and actions are also discussed.The second chapter analyses the way that Jane Austen how to mold middle and old females. She gets rid of the exaggerated factors that exist in the novels and adopts actualism to narrate her stories. In her works, Jane Austen reflects the life of middle-class people in which are relate to the country in the 19th century. Jane Austen does not step outside her own self-imposed limits. But characters are unforgettable and quite close to the real life. Irony is a basic feature of Jane Austen's novels. Austen's irony is always in the whole story. Irony is a necessary attitude in her novels that is used for revealing human nature and describing the situation in the world.The third part of this essay discusses Jane Austen's feminine onsciousness. Jane Austen's feminine consciousness comes from her background and experience. In the 19th century, women are driven out of the fields of politics and work. Jane Austen dissatisfies the status. The new image of women she describes embodies her strong female consciousness. From a macro-controlled angle, the chapter shows the advance of Jane Austen's female consciousness, meanwhile, it also discusses the weakness of her female consciousness.
