Objective:To investigate the correlations between the Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome and the Metabolic Syndrome of the syndrome grouping of TCM.Methodology: We collected 186 cases of patients with the Obstructive Sleep Apnea hypopnea Syndrome and the metabolic syndrome who have been hospitalized in Beijing Hospital between Jan.2008 and Feb.2010, recorded their basic status, medical history, and the results of their sleep monitors. Also, we recorded and statisitcal analyzed the patients'related syndromes of TCM.Outcome: We collected 186 cases of patients with the Obstructive Sleep Apnea-hypopnea Syndrome and the metabolic syndrome who have been hospitalized in Beijing Hospital, all are grow-ups. Among these cases, the oldest patient is 91 years old, while the youngest one is 40.155 are males, and 31 are females.86 are over 60 years old, while 100 are under 60. In TCM, we group the OSAHS in to five types:Phlegm-damp stagnation, Qi-stagnancy and blood stasis with phlegm, Deficiency of lung-spleen qi, Deficiency syndrome of both liver and kidney yin and Spleen Yang-deficiency and Kidney Yang-deficiency syndrome. Among the 186 cases of the patients with OSAHS combine MS,32% are Phlem-damp stagnation,30% are Qi stagnancy and blood stasis with phlem,26% are deficiency of lung-spleen qi,10% are deficiency of liver and kidney yin,2% are deficiency of spleen-kidney yang. We divided the 186 cases of patients with OSAHS in to senior group and un-senior group, Among the 86 cases of senior OSAHS patients, phlegm-damp stagnation takes 16%,Qi-stagnancy and blood stasis with phlegm takes 26%,Deficiency of Lung-spleen qi takes 20%,Deficiency of both liver and kidney yin takes 15%,Spleen and kidney Yang-deficiency syndrome takes 4%.In the 100 un-senoir cases,37% are Phlem-damp stagnation,26% are Qi stagnancy and boold stasis with phlem,20% are deficiency of Lung-spleen qi.15% are deficiency of lung-liver yin,2% are deficiency of spleen-liver yang. he average BMI of the group of phlem-damp stagnation syndrome if greater than the groups of the Qi stagnation and blood statis with phlem and the deciency of liver and kidney yin's, which both make significant differences. The average BMI of the syndrome group of phlem-damp stagnation is statistical significant greater than the deficiency of lung-spleen qi group (p<0.05). Conclusions: The main pathological factors of snoring symptom were phlegm and blood stasis, the main pathogenesis were phlegm-damp obstructing the inside and blood stasis obstructing the orifices, then the relationship between zang-viscus and fu-viscus was unbalanced,it's closely related to the zang-viscus such as the lungs, spleen, kidneys, and so on. In particular, the failure of the spleen in transport and the unsmooth of lung qi were the keys. Differentiation into deficiency and empirical. The empirical including phlegm-damp obstruct and qi and blood stasis with phlegm; The deficiency including qi insufficiency of the lung and spleen, yin deficiency of liver and kidney, yang deficiency of both the spleen and kidney. In our research, the majority of senior patients with OSAHS are the types of stagnation of qi and blood statis with phlem, and the deficency of liver-kidney yin. At the same time, the un-senior cases are mainly of the stagnation of phlem-damp and the stagnation of qi, blood statis with phlem. When it comes to the patients of OSAHS combine MS,a great number of them are the type of syndrome of stagnaytion of phlem-damp, and the stagnation of qi, blood statis with phlem. Most fatty patients are in the group of stagnation of phlem-damp.So, Fat is not only a content of MS, but also a dangerous factor of OSAS.If we say fat is the foundement of the occur of both OSAS and MS, then the phlem-damp is their mutual root.
