ECG generator has been widely used in medical education, equipments evaluation and research. In medical education program, ECG generator is adapted to arouse the interest of students and improve the training effects. In clinical skill training and emergency medical care training, such as resurrection and defibrillation training, medical patient simulator (MPS) with ECG generator also plays an important role. ECG signal generator is a necessary tool for reliability and sensitivity evaluation of ECG equipments. The more categories of signal are tested, the better the evaluation work is done.Existing ECG generators output signals which were store inside previously, and not be able to generate new signals. In this case, only a certain kinds of ECG signal could be generated. Usually, signals in public databases PhysioBank and European ST-T were used. But ECG varies a lot. In equipments testing, only a few kinds of ECG testing signal could not assure the reliability and sensitivity of equipment. Mathematic methods, which could vary a lot, were tried to simulate ECG signals. However, because of the complexity of ECG signals, they could not meet all the requirements when fidelity and variability were both concerned.Considering the specific requirement, we tried a new method of ECG simulating which generated variant ECG signals with good fidelity. By inserting short time ECG signal templates into simulated RR intervals, we synthesized a variant of long ECG signals with good fidelity and pre-set features, such as pre-set average heart rate, pre-set standard deviation of heart rate and frequency features. We also added radon factor in simulation, so we could get different result every time. In conclusion, signals generated by this simulating method could not only meet the requirements of fidelity and variant, but also more comprehensive.
