According to the status quo of food additives in health food, safety limit standards which will be benefit to the development of health food were established. The study carried out an investigation to get the amount of food additives, such as sodium saccharin, sodium cyclamate, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, adding to health foods. To ensure the accuracy of the data, the study established the standard operational procedure of determination methods. Before the surveillance for status quo of the food additives, we carried out a test for the quality control in 9 labs of provincial CDC. And the adults from medium and over medium income class in the developed areas of health food were investigated for the consumption of 21 processed foods. Compared the theoretical daily intake calculated by the data from the investigation and the recommended dose with Acceptable Daily Intake, assessed the risk of food additives, and formulated the safety limit standards of sweeteners permitted to use in health food.It was the first time that we studied the safety limit standards of additives in health food and general food using risk assessment. Because of no basic data of dietary intake for processed food, the study began from groundwork and finished eventually by developing an entire study system. The limit standard fills a gap which has hitherto existed in our national standards, and it can make the study and produce of health food more scientific and normative than before. The method and mode of this study can be the reference for relevant study in the future. Generally, the advanced study has initiative contribution in the field of standard formulation.
