| Objective: To analyze the differences of clinical results between computer navigation technology used in pedicle Screw placement and routine Pedicle Screw Placement . Then to evaluate the safety and reliability of CAS in spine surgery , in order to take advantages advoid disadvantages of this new technology. Methods: From March of 2007 to October of 2008,26 cases (114 Pedicle Screws) in Group I which were perform utilizing computer assisted imaging guidance system (CAS) and there were 15 males and 11 females with an average age of 41 years old (23-71). From October of 2005 to August of 2008, 30 cases (128 Pedicle Screws) in Groupâ…¡which were performed with conventional method previously and there were 17 males and 13 females with an average age of 38 years old (21-69). The accuracies of screw placement were evaluated by postoperative CT , and operating time was statistically analyzed. Results: All cases were followed for an average of 12months (3-24) and no vessel or nerve complications in all cases . In experiment study, there were 242 pedicles inserted. Conventional method Group , the average operation time was 121 minutes, 85. 9% excellent, 10.9% good, and3.1% bad. CAS group, the average operation time was 96 minutes, 98. 2% excellent, 1.7% good. Conclusion: Computer-assisted navigation system enhances accuracies , short the operating time and further improves the safety of spine surgery. |
