Background:Peripheral arterial occlusive disease(PAOD) that with high morbidity, mortality and disability rate is now a great threat to the lives and the quality of life of senior citizens. And the increasement of their occurence caused wide concerns of the public nowadays.Arteriosclerosis obliterans, diabetic peripheral vascular disease and thromboangitis obliterans which mainly manifest with ischemia of lower limbs are the three most commonly seen forms in PAOD.These illness are named as Tuoju by Chinese Medicine in that they has the same pathogenesis of blood stasis syndrome(BSS) and are equally administrated by methods of Huo Xue Hua Yu in common situation. For a long time,BSS has been the mainstream of Chines Medicine study and most researches on BSS are based on internal diseases of stroke,DM and CHD other than surgical diseases like Tuo Ju.Objective:The experiment is deviced to study the the distribution characteristics of BSS in the three diseases and to discuss the relationship between the choosed manifestations and BSS.Results of the research are supposed to provide references for the clinical diagnosis of Tuo Ju Disease. Methods:The hospitalization cases in the Dongzhimen Hospital affiliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine during January 1st,2005 to December 31,2008 are assembled and are selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.Questionnaire is used to record and to selected case which are then differentiated by Chinese Medicine. In the first part, all cases are assigned to 7 groups which include BSS group and it is alowed that one case has more than one syndrome patterns, then the number and frequency of each group are noted. In the clinical diagnostic manifestion study part, patiens are divided into two groups-BSS group and NonBSS group- to measure and record their indices of plasma viscosity, whole blood viscosity(low shear),whole blood viscosity(high shear),hematocrit, erythrocyte deformability,Fib,TXB2,6-keto-PGF,ET, CGRP.At last, all data are inputed into SPSS to set up the database and to be analysed.Results:1.Syndrome Analyses The syndrome which is of the highest frequency in all the 607 cases is Xueyu Syndrome(BSS),a total of 428 cases, accounting for 70.2%.It also reveals that 77.2%cases of ASO,62.5%cases of DPVD and 71.7%cases of TAO are of BSS.In the three diseases, the combined syndrome pattern of the highest frequency(76 cases) is Xue Yu Qi Xu Shi Zhi.According to course of disease,BSS marks 57.8%,59.4%,81.2%,94.6%respectively in Er Qi,San Qi Yi Ji,San Qi Er Ji,San Qi San Ji.2.Clinical Diagnostic Manifestations Analysis The outcome of research shows that the frequency of skin pigmentation(69.5%) and paresthesia(76.3%) in BSS group is much higher(P<0.05).Compared with the other group,6-keto-PGF1 and whole blood viscosity(low shear) are much higher and it is valid in statistics(P<0.05). Conclusions:BSS is the major syndrome pattern of ASO,DPVD,TAO and it is likely to co-exist with Qi Xu and Shi Zhi.BSS is throughout almost the entire courses of TAO,ASO and DPVD. With the development of the course the emergence of BSS has a gradually increasing trend,by which the "Jiu bing xue yu" theorys have been confirmed.Research shows that skin pigmentation, paresthesia,ET and whole blood viscosity(low shear) have correlation with BSS in peripheral arterial occlusive disease.
