Wild resources of Trollius chinensis Bge. (Ranunculaceae) are abundant. It has the property of clearing heat and expelling toxin, and was used to cure tonsillitis, throat inflammation and acute enteritis in folk remedy. In recent years, on the basis of folk remedy, the flower of Trollius chinensis Bge. that is combined with modern pharmacological research has showed remarkable effect. Although it is certain that the flower of Trollius chinensis Bge. is a good antibacterial medicine, there are few studies on its quality standard.Effective components are determined by Different varieties, different picked time and different picked part of flowers, according to pharmaceutical chemistry study. It was found that the study is simple, feasible and scientific. The systematic studies on quality standard of Trollius chinensis Bge. confirmed the clinical effect, and supplied a scientific research methodology used for finding new officinal portion of Trollius chinensis Bge. and setting up reasonable quality standard of medicinal herbs. The main results of the study are as follows:1. To study the extracting method of Trollius chinensis Bge. by using L9 (34 ) orthogonal-designed method. 4 factors and 3 levels are analysed respectively. The result showed that B ranked 1st, C is 2nd, the 3rd is A, while D can be ignored. The most suitable condition of extracting total flavonoid is A2B3C3D2.2. To discover the best method of extracting total flavonoid content in stems and leaves of Trollius chinensis Bge., reflux, Soxhelt and ultrasonic extraction method are tested respectively. It showed that the total flavonoid using ultrasonic extraction method is 5.824%, which was much higher than those using reflux and Soxhelt extraction method. In addition, the ultrasonic extraction method was more feasible. So the ultrasonic extraction method was the best choice.3. To determine the total flavonoid content in stems and leaves of Trollius chinensis Bge. in Beijing and Bashang district at different picked times by UV absorption at 500 nm. Dynamic curves revealed similar direction, which fell down , went up and then fell down again. The total flavonoid content in Bashing district was higher than Beijing, and also the flowers inBashang district went into bloom 2 weeks earlier than Beijing; The stems and leaves had abundant resource and high value in use, which Supplied a scientific basis for finding new officinal portion of Trollius chinensis Bge.4. To determine the total flavonoid content in flowers of Trollius chinensis Bge. in Bashang district at different picked times. The result is 5.139%~8.431%,while 6.936% is the average. The Max content of the total flavonoid was in Yudaokou meadow, while the min content was in Sandao river estuary. The total flavonoid content of cultivated Trollius chinensis Bge. was 8.001%, which was higher than the average content of wild flowers; the total flavonoid content in mechanical forestry centre was basically accordant, which informed that the content in this area was stable.5. The total flavonoid of different florescence in Beijing district were determined by UV absorption at 500 nm. The result was, the max content of total flavonoid was contained in the early blossomy flowers, compared with blossom bud and blossomy flowers, which supplied theoretical foundation for the best picked time and quality standard.; The content of Trollius chinensis Bge. was higher than that of Trollius ledebouri Rchb., which gave a clue that species influenced quality of herb.6. The content of total flavonoid in 12 species of blossomy flowers were determined by UV absorption. Though the average was 6.857%, the result revealed big difference because the content fluctuated between 3.709%~10.004%; the Max content was contained in cultivated flowers in Beijing, while the Min content was in Daxinganling, which affirmed again the importance of species to the quality of herb; cultivated flowers contained higher total flavonoid than wild ones, which showed Beijing and Bashang district were fit to plant Trollius chinensis Bge.7. The content of vitexin in 9 species of blossomy flowers are determined by HPLC. The average result was 0.425%, and the Max content was 0.578% in Yudaokou meadow, while the min content was 0.297% in Sandao river estuary. It confirmed that the relation between producing area and quality of herb. The content of vitexin in these 9 species fluctuated between 0.201%~0.655%, of which 0.393% was the average. Cultivated flowers in Beijing contained highest content of vitexin(0.655%), while Daxinganling contained lowest(0.201%). It again proved that Beijing and Bashang district were both fit to plant Trollius chinensis Bge.
