Liu Wei Di Huang Wan On Diabetic Rats Hyperhomocysteinemia Experimental Study,

Objective To observe effects of the liuweidihuangwan on plasma homocysteine(Hcy) Level in SD rats with diabetes mellitus.Methods There were 10 cases of nomal adult male SD rats and the other 70 cases with DM induced by streptozotocin(STZ).The 70 cases of DM rats were randomly divided into 7 groups:DM,mold,Metformin Hydrochloride Enteric-Coated Capsules,Metformin Hydrochloride Enteric-Coated Capsules & folic acid & vit B₁₂,low dosage of liuwei dihuang wan,middle dosage of liuwei dihuang wan,high dosage of liuwei dihuang wan,(n=10each).Hyperhomocysteinenia was induced by giving diat with high DL-Alanine.All the rats were given the different treatments associated with their group.One month later,the plasma homocysteine,folio acid,vit B₁₂,blood suger were examined.Results The folio acid level of high dosage ofLiuwei Dihuang Wan was found significantly higher than model control(p＜0.05).The vit B₁₂ level of three diffrent dosages ofLiuwei Dihuang Wan were found significantly higher than model control(p＜0.05 ).The plasma homocysteine(Hcy) level of three diffrent dosages of Liuwei Dihuang Wan were found significantly higher than model control(p＜0.05) Conclusion The Liuwei Dihuang Wan is able to reduce plasma homocysteine(Hcy) level of DM rat.Its mechanisms may be related to increasing the folic acid and the vit B₁₂ in blood serum.And the effect may be related to the dosages of the Liuwei Dihuang Wan.
