Objective: Under the guidance of the theory of differentiation with the Six Meridians summed up Zhang Zhongjing, the paper selected the gasification characteristic of the Six Meridians as a breaking point, probes mainly into the rule of differentiating the retention of body fluid of the Six Meridians by analyzing the interrelationship of Qi and fluid through Traditional Chinese Medicine literature study, expecting providing an effective thinking model to differentiate and treat the body fluid retention. Methods: By analyzing the gasification characteristic of each meridian, the author summarized corresponding treatises in《Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases》especially in the TaiYang and ShaoYang chapters from the following two aspects: the disfunction of Qi transformation and failure of Qi transformation. Combined with《Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber》and other successive doctors' medical records, a further research of the regularity of Six Meridians fluid retention has been done.Result: The fluid retention of three Yang meridians is mainly because of the disorder movement of Qi and the open-close pivot, which leads to the disfunction of Qi and body fluid retention. As for the Yin meridians, the main cause is the deficiency of vital Qi, fails to gasification, resulting in fluid accumulation. Conclusion: Through discussing on the changing regulation of the body fluid retention from disfunction and failure of Qi transformation can help us ascertain an effective thinking model in differentiating its etiopathogenisis and pathogenesis, improve the therapeutic effects.
