Chanhoujieyu Capsule was a compound Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation obtained from Radix Ginseng, Radix Angelica Sinensis i.e., which had the functions of invigorating qi and nourishing the blood, promoting the blood circulation and resolving the blood stasis, nourishing the heart to calm the mind. In clinic, it was used to care postpartum depression. Under the guidance of the theories of TCM and according to documents of pharmacology and the demands of clinic, the preparation technology, quality standard and preliminary stability of Chanhoujieyu Capsule were studied.On the basis of the function and treatment of the prescription and the characters of the effective component of the herbs, the optimal preparation process was designed by using the orthogonal experiment as well as quite a few assessing norms to evaluate them comprehensively. The optimum extract conditions were that Radix Ginsen extracted 3 times, with 8-fold volume of 70% ethanol, 1 hour each time. Radix Angelica Sinensis soaked for 4 hours and then distilled for 7 hours. All the remains and other herbs were extracted 3 times, with 10-fold volume of water, 1 hour each time. The purifying technology was that it is condensed all the extracted solutions to 0.8g/ml and then added 15%(ml/ml) 1% chitosan acetum (40°C), filtered, the solutions was condensed to the density about 1.12(60°C), dried by spray, added some adjuvant and wet granulation, then dryed, sprayed into volatile oil and put it into capsules.In the study of the quality standard, Thin Layer Chromatograph was taken to identify all the herbs. Meanwhile, the contents (Rg₁,Re,Rb₁) of Radix Ginseng was determined by HPLC which was taken as an inherent index to estimate the products and accomplished the systematic methodology.Preliminary stability research had kept on 3 months, the samplesunder the long experiment at room temperature were measured accordingto the quality stamdard, the results indicate that Chanhoujieyu capsulewas stable and the packing was suitable.The results indicate that the preparation process is reasonable andpractical, the standard is controllable and the quality of the sample isstable.
