China And The League Of Nations Cooperation And Interaction In The Health Sector (1920-1939),

League of Nations (LON) was set up in January 1920, China joined in July that year. The Health Organization of League of Nations was established in 1921, and then its eastern bureau was set up in 1925 in Singapore with the purpose of gathering information of epidemic and critical statistics in ports of Far East. During that time, the communication between China and LON on medical and health matters is less, mainly on epidemic information in some Chinese ports with the eastern bureau. In 1927, National Chinese government was found, it set up health ministry in 1928,the health ministry sent an appeal to the Health Organization of LON in 1929, requiring itscoordination on medical and health matters. The council of LON approved China's appeal in 1930 and took measures to coordinate with China on health matters. Since then on, LON started the active communication and comprehensive coordination with China on medical and health matters. Under the help of LON, the National Chinese government set up its national public medical system gradually in its 10 years' reign, this system had been continued to use by the government of the people's republic of china till the 1990s.This thesis states the above course of communication between the National Chinese Government and LON, analyzes the reason of the active communication and coordination between them, and discusses the influence of the help of LON to China's modern public medical system.
