Objective To investigate the expression of cytokines, growth factor and enzymes in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis(EMs) and their roles in the pathogenesis. Methods From August 2005 to December 2006,interleukin-1α(IL-1α),interleukin-6(IL-6),transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) contents in the peritoneal fluid of 30 cases (13 cases in stageⅠ-Ⅱ,17 cases in stageⅢ,Ⅳ) with EMs were detected by ELISA and compared with the counterparts of 25 cases without EMs(control group). And the correlation analyses were performed. Results the levels of IL-6,TGF-βand MMP-9 in the peritoneal fluid of patients with EMs were(712.2±577.5) ng/L,(915.3±558.9) ng/L and(3.83±1.57)μg/L,and were obviously increased compared with the controls. There were significant difference(P<0.01).However,in the amounts of IL-1αthere were no difference(P>0.05) between the two groups. The amounts of IL-6 in stageⅢ-Ⅳ[(920.3±662.3) ng/L]were significantly higher than that in stageⅠ-Ⅱ[(440.1±282.3) ng/L],and there were significant difference(P<0.05).There was obviously positive correlation between IL-6 and MMP-9 expression(r=0.723,P<0.01),while there was obviously negative correlation between TGF-βand MMP-9 expression(r=-0.542,P<0.05).Conclusion IL-6, TGF-βand MMP-9 in the peritoneal fluid of EMs patients partly account for imbalance of the immunization in peritoneal microenvironment, and play a promotional role in the development and progression of EMs. |
