Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a new medical imaging technology which is to estimate changes in the internal conductivity based on measurement of the border voltage disturbance. EIT image reconstruction technique has been an important research topic. Early research on EIT is mainly on the assumption of two-dimensional (2D) imaging region which is the simplification of EIT imaging technology. For 2D-EIT, the injected current was limited into a plane. In fact the current is three-dimensional (3D) divergence in the 3D space. Therefore, 3D-EIT is the trends and hot spots in the medical imaging study.Based on actual research requirement, the paper starts with the two-dimensional situation. Through the establishment of 2D model of EIT, the finite element method is used to solve forward problems together with the Newton-Raphson and its improving method to solve inverse problems. On this basis 3D-EIT is also conducted a preliminary study. First the finite element method is used to establish 3D-EIT finite element mesh model, and then uses the complete electrode model to modeling the mesh model, ultimately FEM unit system equations is derived. Then MATLAB software is used on the simulation of the issue of 3D-EIT, especially on the simulation comparison of Jacobian matrix optimization. Finally, the choice is made of the simulation parameters which impact the reconstructed image. It lays the foundation for the future 3D-EIT research.
