Objctive:Elsholtzia penduliflora W.W.Smith(Labitatae)is a folk herbal medicine native to Honghe,Yunnan. The whole plant is used for treating diseases such as pneumonia, bronchitis, mastiffs and flu etc. This thesis elaborated the studies on the chemical constituents of the medicinal herb. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by solvent extraction together with various chromatographic techniques, the structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical properties and spectral data(MS,IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR).Resnlts:Twelve constituents were isolated from the plant, and were structurally established as tectochrysin(1),2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxyflavanone(2),ursolic acid(3),5-hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone (4),5-hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavone(5),Luteolin-7-O-glucoside (6),rosmarinic acid(7),Luteolin -5-O-glucuronide(8),Luteolin -7-O- glucuronide (9),daucosterol(10),caffeic acid(11)and Luteolin(12).Conclusion:12 compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time.
