Of, Based On The Theory Of Sepsis, Gas, And Vascular Endothelial Cells

Sepsis, which is a common complication with severe trauma, infection, shock and surgery, is a spectrum of systemic expressions of the host's inflammatory pathways in response to infection. It leads to septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. Recently, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) plays a role in preventing and treating sepsis, however, the morbidity and mortality remains high. Western medicine has been recognized that vascular endothelial cell (VEC) plays a key role in pathogenesis of sepsis. My supervisor Liu Qingquan considers that Qi in TCM and VEC have correlation in both physiol and pathomechanism, studies can be initiated, in the hope of supporting a novel strategies to prevent and cure sepsis by TCM.The thesis mainly includes literature reviews and theoretical research.The literature reviews consist of two parts. The first part summarizes the development of VEC, focuses on the pathogenesis of sepsis with a major emphasis on the acute VEC injuries and the development of research on VEC by TCM. The second part reviews the physiologic function of Qi and relevant pathogenesis, summarizes the conclusions about recent studies on parenchyma of Qi, recognizes and treats sepsis from an aspect of Qi.In the theoretical research, we try to compare Qi with VEC both in physiology and pathogenesis in sepsis. In physiology, we studies on the following items, distribution, characteristics, sources, and physiologic function, while in the pathogenesis of sepsis , we compare the pathomechanism in TCM and of VEC. Based on the research, we hope to provide a novel strategies to prevent and cure sepsis by TCM. In conclusion, we propose that as to protect VEC we shall start from treating Qi, hoping we can finally reduce the morbidity and mortality through the way.
