Objective To investigate the assoociation between ultrasonic of carotid and femoral artherio sclerosis and coronary atherosclerotic disease(CAD).Methods The intima-media thickness(IMT)and plaque Aera of carotid and femoral arteries were measured in 106 patients who underwent examines of coronary anginography and the correlation between two examinations was analyzed before undergoing coronary arteriography (CAG).Results The IMT and the Crouse progressively increased with the extent of CAD , . the IMT of CAD group was obviously higher than that of normal group ,especialy three groups(P<0.05); expect single groupe and double groupe ,there is significant in each CAD group (P<0.05). The Crouse and the IMT have significant correlation with the extent of CAD,( P <0.05); with the increase of IMT and plaque Crouse, CAD deteriorate progressively; the correlation to CAD by detecting the femoral artery was more clouse than the carotidConclusions This study demonstrate a close association between the atherosclerosis of carotid and femoral arteries and CAD. The plaque Crouse of the carotid and femoral artery progressively increase with the increase in the extent of CAD. Patients with more increased IMT and bigger plaque are likely to suffer from multivessels CAD. Ultrasonic signals of carotid and femoral arterio-sclerosis have great value in predicting the extent of CAD.The ultrasonic signals of femoral artery are stronger than the carotid artery for predicting CAD.
