Cough variant asthma also called occult asthma or cough asthma or allergic asthma is a special type of asthma. It occurs primarily in infant which has family history of allergies. Most cough variant asthma attacks in spring and autumn. Clinical manifestations are dry cough, choking, Less sputum or phlegm, pharyngeal itching, even there will be chest tightness, hyperpnoen, ect. This disease has intractable, chronic and recurrence character.It is often induced by fume, exercise, cold air, allergens or upper respiratory tract infections, and so on. The disease is a very common clinical respiratory diseases with high incidence, but the pathogenesis is still not entirely clear.The theoretical research, through clinical study from TCM angles ,learns cough variant asthma awareness and mechanisms from different angles.1. Literature study:Divided into three major studies the fist major based on the literatures of children with cough variant asthma awareness from ancient TCM; the second aspect of modern Chinese medicine is the cough variant asthma in children's literature review of research progress; the third subject mainly on western awareness of the disease and research progress.2. Clinical research:Objective: To investigating the use of Professor XuRongqian Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma clinical efficacy. And to studying children with cough variant asthma disease etiology mechanism and therapeutic principles in the scope of the TCM asthma syndrome.Methods: the research is conducted in cross-sectional studies, to studying Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Dongzhimen Hospital pediatric outpatient clinics, observed 30 cases of cough variant asthma patients based on clinical data on the Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma clinical effects. Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion applicable to children with cough variant asthma. Results:1)Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion powder can significantly improve children with cough variant asthma cough, pharyngeal itching and other symptoms. Differences before and after treatment there were significant (P <0.01).2)Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion powder mainly applicable to children with cough variant asthma in lung wind cough syndrome.Conclusions:1)Children with cough variant asthma are Asthma in early stage.2)Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion in the treatment of children with cough variant asthma has good clinical effect.3)Supplemented Ligusticum scorpion casual applicable to the treatment of children with cough variant asthma in lung wind cough card.4)Children with cough variant asthma best treated with"clearing lung- heat and extinguishing wind"and"resolving phlegm and relieving cough"therapeutic principles.
