Objective:To estimate the efficacy of in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) utilization in infertile patients with adenomyosis. Methods:From January 2002 to June 2007,43 infertile patients with adenomyosis who had undergone treatment of IVF-ET were enrolled as investigative group. At the same time, chosen 47 infertile patients without adenomyosis and endometriosis as control group randomly.Patients with a normal size uterine were in Group A,otherwise,in Group B.28 patients with adenomyosis received two-eight courses of a long-acting GnRH agonist treatment were in Group C,another 15 patients with adenomyosis but without treatment before IVF-ET were in Goup D.Analysed the conditions in IVF-ET such as clinical pregnancy rate, miscarriage rate among groups. Results:Clinical pregnancy rate of investigative group was 41.86%,higher than that of control group 34.04%,but it was no statistical significant difference. The miscarriage rate between two groups were 16.67%and 18.75%,also was no significant difference between them.Clinical pregnancy rate of Group A is higher than Group B(48.39%vs.25%),and miscarriage rate of Group A is lower than Group B(13.33%vs.33.33%),but all of them were no statistical significant differences. The dose of gonadotropin(Gn)used in Group C is more than Group D(42.00±18.15 vs.33.80±10.43),but with no significant difference, and pregnancy rate was similar between two groups. Conclusion:The technology of IVF-ET is an important method to infertile patients with adenomyosis to achieve pregnancy.Prolonged use of GnRH-a before IVF-ET in patients with adenomyosis may resulted in higher pregnancy rate, but without deleterious effect on ovarian response.
