The Juemin jiangzhitang is a chinese traditional compounds medicine which iscomposed with Semen Cassiae, Fructus Crataegi and Gynostemma pentaphyllum (thumb.)Makino. It can cure hyperlipemia. The medicines which compose the prescription have complicatedconstituents, such as anthraquinones, flavonoids, saponins, etc. We research the chemicalconstitutions of the prescription for further purpose to look into material basis ofpharmacotical activities in the Juemin jiangzhitang.The first part of the paper reported the chemical study on the chloroform fraction of theprescription. The powder of the prescription was extract by boiling water and the extractionwas concentrated. The concentrate was precipitated by alcohol, and then filtered. Filtrate wasconcentrated in vacuo, The concentrate was extracted with petroleum (30℃～60℃) andchloroform. The chloroform fraction evaporation to dryness.The dryness added water,extracted with chloroform and EtOAc. The extraction of chloroform was separated by CCDmethod and silica gel dry column chromatography. The extraction of EtOAc was separatedby silica gel dry column chromatography.By physico-chemical and spectral ways definite compoundsⅠ～Ⅴas Aurantio-obtusin,Ale-emodin, Obtusin, 1'-methyl-6,7-pyran-1,4-dihydroxy-3-methyl anthraquinone andChryso-obtusin. CompoundⅦdefinite as apigenin, CompoundⅧdefinite as luteolin.CompoundⅥinitially definite as anthraquinone glycoside by orthotope acidolysis, thestructure is pending.The second part of the paper was the review on medicines which compose The Jueminjiangzhitang. Semen Cassiae is the dry ripe seeds of leguminous plant Cassia obtusifolia L. orCassia tora L., frequently used as clinical medicine. Anthraquinone was reported as the mainchemical constitution of Semen Cassiae. Modern studies suggest that Semen Cassiae has theactivities on lowering the blood pressure and blood-fat, protecting the liver. Fructus Crataegiis the dry ripe fruit of Rosaceae plant Crataegus pinnatifida Bge.Var.major N.E.Br. orCrataegus pinnatifida Bge. Researches before 1950's concentrate in cellulose, tannin andtriterpene. Along with the development of flavonoids after 1950's, the major research turn to flavonoids. For the past few years Fructus Crataegi was used in the therapy of hypertension,coronary artery disease and hyperlipemia. Gynostemma pentaphyllum (thumb.) Makino is thevine of Cucurbitaceae plant. Since 1970's, scholars did extensive and deep going studies byusing modern separation techniques and analytical methods. The research result showed thatGynostemma pentaphyllum (thumb.) Makino contains the constituent of saponins, flavonoids,aminophenol, saccharide, inorganic elements and so on. It has the functions in reduce bloodfat, decrease blood pressure, anti-tumour, enhance immune system,sedative,acesodyne,protectheart,liver and blood vessel.
