Objective To study on the role of lectin like OX-LDL receptorr (LOX-1) in the apoptosis of human mesangial cell (HMC) induced by oxidized low density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL).Methods The apoptosis of HMC in different concentrations of OX-LDL were detected by morphological method, DNA end labeling(TUNEL) and FACS. At the same time, the rate of apoptosis were measured after blocking agent LOX-1 antibody of LOX-1 added in.Results Different concentrations of OX-LDL(0,50,100μg/ml)could cause the apoptosis of HMC after 24 hours and had dose correlation; the rate of cell apoptosis was clearly decreased and has statistical significance after specific LOX-1 antibody added in (P<0.05).Conclusion LOX-1 plays a role in the process of HMC apoptosis induced by OX-LDL.
