Objective: To study the antimicrobial effect of polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA) denture base with silver-containing antimicrobial agents of nanometer lever against Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans in vitra;Observation on Impact Srength was made on the influence of PMMA denture base with silver-containing antimicrobial agents of nanometer.Methods: Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) of the silver-containing antimicrobial agent agaist S.mutans and C.albicans was determined by Liquid dilution method;According to the MIC, MBC, 4 concentrations of agent were selected for the preparation of antimicrobial PMMA resin base;Then the antimicrobial effect of the resin base were examined by in vitro bacterial culture.The test samples were put on the simple beam impact laboratorial aircraft and the records of each test samples impact break consumes was wrote down after carried on the impact to the test sample .Results: The MIC, MBC of the gent against S.mutans were 0.0006mg/ml, 0.625 mg/ml;the MIC, MBC of the agent against C.albicans were 0.0003mg/ml, 0.0195 mg/ml.With the agent at 0.14mg,0.56mg,2.66mg in the polymethymethacry-late resin base, the inhibition ratios of the base against S.mutans were 22%,51% and 73% respectively;that against C.albicans were 25%, 69% and 75%. With the agent at 0.14mg,0.56mg,2.66mg in the polymethymethacry-late resin base, the Impact Strength of denture bases were not obviously changing than normal group (P>0.05);Conclusion: The polymethymethacry-late resin base with silver-containing antimicrobial agent of nanometer level at 2.66mg has ideal antimicrobial activity against S.mutans and C.albicans, and has not obviously changing on the Impact Strength .
