1. Application of Activated Glassy Carbon Electrode for the Determination of Nuciferine in Lotus LeavesNuciferine is a compound containing aromatic ether ligand. It is irreversibly oxidized at high potential, resulting in the formation of orthoquinone, which demonstrates quasi-reversible electrochemical behavior at less positive potential. However few works use such character of nuciferine for analytical applications. In this paper, we successfully determined the concentration of nuciferine by using the electrochemical character of the obtained orthoquinone. An activated glassy carbon was used as the working electrode. The effect of the activation pretreatment on the functional, physical characters of the electrode was studied. The activated electrode performed good sensitivity for nuciferine detection. A linear range between 8.7×10-9~5.6×10-7 mol·L-1 and a detection limit of 5.0×10-9 mol·L-1 was obtained. The method has also been used to quantify nuciferine concentration in lotus which obtained from the Slim West Lake.2. Trace Clenbuterol Detection with MWCNTs-Nafion Nanocomposite Modified ElectrodeA method for the determination of trace clenbuterol was described. The multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) - Nafion composite were used to modify the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The modified electrode showed high sensitivity, and good selectivity for clenbuterol detection. It offered a linear range of 1.0×10-9~1.0×10-6 mol·L-1 with a detection limit of 5.0×10-10 mol·L-1 in pH=1.2 solution. The oxidation mechanism of clenbuterol on the electrode has also been investigated.3. A New Glucose Sensor Based on the Ni Modified MWCNTsThe Ni modified MWCNTs was synthesized by the solvethermal method. It was found that the Ni nanoparticles with the diameter about 5 nm can highly disperse on the surface of MWCNTs. When an electrode was modified by the the MWCNTs-Ni namocomposite, it showed good sensitivity and selectivity. Vc and uric have little interference when the modified electrode was used for the detection of glucose. Using amperomatric method, the sensor showed good linear range of 2×10-6 mol/L~1.2×10-3 mol/L, and with a detection limitation reaches of 5×10-7 mol/L. Such sensor has been successfully applied for the detection of glucose concentration in blood serum...
