| Gas Chromatography is an important separate and analysis method. Thistechnique is widely used in petrochemical industry, medicine, health andother fields. Headspace gas chromatography is an analysis methodconforming to requirement of "green analytical chemistry", withfeatures of gas sampling, short analysis time, no solvents extract duringanalysis, no hazard to analyst and environment, easy operation and simplechromatogram, so it is widely used in environmental monitoring, foodsanitary and anti-epidemic, available composition analysis of traditionalChinese medicine, residual solvents detection and other fields. Thisarticle studies on the detection of medicines residual solvents byheadspace gas chromatography.The article summed up detection method of medicines includingHarringtonine, Homoharringtonine, Docetaxel etc residual solvents byheadspace gas chromatography. All methods are firstly presented, and theresults show that all methods established are simple, reliable, and makequality standard of drugs perfect. Harringtonine and Homoharringtonineare anti-cancer available compositions extracted from C. hainanensis.Organic solvents ether and dichloromethane are used during extraction andpurification. Headspace gas chromatography is established to detectresidual solvent of available composition of above two traditionalChinese medicine by studying on experiment conditions. Docetaxel istypical one of the second generation of antineoplastic drug. Anti-canceractivity of Docetaxel is about ten times of Paclitaxel. Eight organicsolvents including methanol, dichloromethane, hexane etc are used duringsemi-synthesis, and headspace gas chromatography is established to detectthese organic solvents.Selection of gas chromatography condition to detect residual solventis concluded as follows: Use non-polar or low-polar capillary columnanalysis, the length of column is thirty to sixty meters. The columntemperature is 40℃for 10 minutes and programmed raise 5~10℃perminute to 180℃, hold for 10~20 minutes. The carrier gas is nitrogen,and flow rate is 1.0~3.0ml per minute. Preheating temperature ofheadspace is 70~85℃, and balance time is 20~60 minutes. The temperatureof injecting port and FID is 180~200℃and 250℃, respectively. Thisarticle is significant to popularize and apply headspace gaschromatography. In the fifth part of this article, the experience onselecting condition of gas chromatography and abnormalities handling aregeneralized.
