Various oxygen species occur during the metabolizable process of biological systems. Superoxide anion radical (O2-· ) and hydroxyl radical (·OH) are typical ones. Superoxide anion radical (O2- ?) comes into being first, hydroxyl radical (·OH) acts stronggest, they are presumed to play an important role in a number of biological phenomena such as aging, oronary heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer and other pathological conditions. The study to free radicals gets high regard recently in the field of iatrology, biology, biochemistry, environmental chemistry and so on. Many scholars have carried much research to the forming and detecting method of free radicals. This thesis introduces four systems for the detecting and scavenging of active oxygen radical, concerning four methods: fluorescence, spectrophotometry, capillary electrophoresis and electrochemistry.Chapter one introduced the forming and character of active oxygen radical, summarized the recent advance of the research to superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical. In chapter two, the determination and scavenging of hydroxyl radical by fluorescence and spectrophotometry in Safranine T—Fe( II)—H2O2 system was studied. In chapter three, the detection and scavenging of hydroxyl radical by electrochemistry in Phenylhydrazine Hydrochloride—Fe( II)—Vc—H2O2 system was studied, and the product of the reaction was separated efficiently by capillary electrophoresis.Chapter four introduced the research to hydroxyl radical by fluorescence in L-Phenylalanine—Fe(II)—H2O2 system.Chapter five presented the determination of superoxide anion radical and superoxide dismutase activity by fluorescence and electrochemistry in hydroxylammonium autoxidation system.Chapter six summarized the research work of this thesis and conceived the next objective of the study.
