Breviscapine is a flavone mixture isolated from Erigeron breviscapus (Vant.) Hand. -Mazz. Its main component is scutellarin. Breviscapine increases cerebral blood flow for significantly decreasing cerebrovascular resistance; raises permeability of blood-brain barrier, increases nutritional blood flow of myocardium. It is effective in the treament of cerebral infarction, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris. This dissertation reported the studies on the chemical composition of breviscapine and the metabolites of breviscapine in rats.By means of open ODS column chromatography and preparative HPLC, the main component , scutellarin , and some minor components were purified. Their structures were elucidated by NMR and ESI-MS spectroscopy. They are scutellarin, apigenin-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, Plantaginin, scutellarein, 4',3, 5, 6-tetrahydroxyflavone-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, and 3', 4', 3, 5, 6-pentahydroxyflavone-7-O-β-D-glucuro nide. After the composition of breviscapine were clarified, its metabolites in rats aroses our interests. By means of macroporous resin column chromatography, ODS open column chromatography, and preparative HPLC, the metabolites of breviscapine from rats urine...
