PART 1. Induction of collateral artery growth and improvement of heart function by hepatocyte growth factor gene transfer via noninfarct-related vessel effectively treats postinfarction heart failureObjective: To study the amelioration effect of postinfarction heart failure with Ad5-HGF (adenovirus5-mediated human hepatocyte growth factor) transfer in the swine model. Methods: Twelve SuZhong young swine were randomly divided into two groups, Ad5-HGF group (n=6) and null- Ad5 group (n=6). Four weeks after left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) ligation, Ad5-HGF was transferred into the MI (myocardial infarction) myocardium via right coronary artery. Coronary angiography and Gate cardiac perfusion imaging were performed at the end of four and seven weeks after LAD ligation, respectively, to evaluate the collateral artery growth (Rentrop) and cardiac perfusion. Then all animals were sacrificed, the expression of HGF and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were... |
