Disporopsis pernyi, one of Chinese herbal medicine ,belongs to Disporopsis of Liliaceae .Although it can be used as the Chinese medicine with high biological effect, the studies on its chemical components are hardly reported.Through our research, several active compounds were isolated from the root of Disporopsis pernyi through methods of silica gel column chromatography and thin layer chromatography and their structures were identified by spectral analysis (such as GC-MS, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR) and by comparison of spectral data of known compounds and standard They are Δ²-(25R)-spiral steroid-3β-mellow,(25R)-5β-spiral steroid-3β-mellow and β-daucosterol. All these substances were first isolated from the root of Disporopsis pernyi.According to literature data, these compounds have strong active biological effect which are not the major medicinal effect possessed by Disporopsis pernyi. So we think there would be many other active compounds that exist in Disporopsis pernyi. Therefore, we think it is necessary to study its chemical compounds further.
