Origanum vulgare L., a perennial herb plant of Labiatae, is a traditional Chinese medicine which has been used to the treatment of some symptoms, such as cold, headache, stomachache, diarrhea, etc.. Past pharmacological research shows its activity of antibacterial, relieve pain, refrain inflammatory, regulate immunity. Based on pharmacological and clinical research, chemical constituents and relevant quality research are conducted.Phenolic constituents are studied in this research. These constituents are extracted with different solvents, and separated from EtOAc fraction by all kinds of chromatography. 21 phenolic constituents are isolated, and 16 of them are identified as follows: Pyrocatechol(â… ), Protocatechuic aldehyde(â…¡), Protocatenchuic acid(â…¢), P-hydroxybenzoic acid (â…£) , Vanillic acid (â…¤) , Isovanillic acid (â…¥) , Ferulic acid (â…¦) , Caffeic acid (â…§) , Syringic acid ( â…¨ ) , Eudesmic acid ( â…© ) , Rosmarinic acid methylester (â…ª) , Rosmarinic acid ethylster (â…«), Acacetin ( â…©â…¢) , Quercetin ( â…©â…£ ), 6,7,3',4'-Tetrathydroxydihydroflavone ( â…©â…¤) and a Stilbene (â…©â…¥) . Among of them, compound â… , â…¡ ,â…¦ , â…¨, â…ª, â…« , â…©â…¢, â…©â…£, â…©â…¤, â…©â…¥ are isolated for the first time from Origanum vulgare L..Based on chemical constituent research, the study of Fingerprints of the herb with capillary eletrophoresis (CE) are conducted. 10 samples of different fields are analyzed by CE. 20 peaks are assigned to common fingerprints peaks by comparing the spectrum of different samples, and some parameters are acquired. According to the spectrum, there are obvious difference in the quantity and quality of chemical constituents in Origanum vulgare L..The method is stable and reliable. It offered rapid method to evaluate the quality of Origanum vulgare L..Protocatenchuic acid is one of active phenolic acid isolated in Origanum vulgare L., for its medical potential, the content of it are examined with HPLC. A stable and reliable method is set up, and 10 samples of different fields are analyzed. There is obvious difference in content of Protocatenchuic acid. It offer scientific basis to the establishment...
