Objective: To research how to cover the medical expense and solve the drug problem of those persons living with HIV/AIDS by variety ways and methods, which is still an important point of preventing HIV/AIDS prevalence in China. This research analyses the feasibility of incorporating PLWHA into the new cooperative medical system along with establishing the pilot site in Zizhong County. It aims at finding a care policy, which could solve the expense problem of PLWHA by setting up the fund from government and society, and providing the suggestion for allocating the resource and fund in HIV/AIDS care program.Methods: This research uses the method of counting the medical expense of PLWHA and figures out the disease economic risk of PLWHA, and discuss the feasibility of incorporating PLWHA into the new cooperative medical system in Zizhong County. It finally points out the appropriate scale of incorporating PLWHA into the new cooperative medical system in other places.Results: By studying the feasibility of incorporating PLWHA into the new cooperative medical system in Zizhong County, we find the base of the work to caring and supporting PLWHA is quite good. In a certain condition, there is no risk to incorporate PLWHA into the new cooperative medical system in Zizhong County. But the new cooperative medical system in Zizhong County can only cover a small part of the medical expense of PLWHA.
