Objective: To evaluate the effects of the Wei-qi-ying-xue bianzheng to the patients with MODS by investigating the physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHEII) multiple organ dysfunction score(MODS) and TNF-α in every stages. Methods: 30 patients undergoing MODS were divided into 4 stages by the methods of Wei-qi-ying-xue bianzheng, such as weifenzheng, qifenzheng, yingfenzheng and xuefenzheng. In every stage the patients were assessed by APACHE II and multiple organ dysfunction score.AT the same time TNF-α was evluated by RIA. Then the scores were calculated and compared .Results: Most of the patients had no the first stage qifenzheng. In the other three stages, APACHEII showed significantly higher from qifenzheng to yingfenzheng, but no significant difference from yingfenzheng to xuefenzheng; multiple organs dysfunction score showed significantly higher from qifenzheng to yingfenzheng as from yingfenzheng to xuefenzheng. TNF-α showed significantly higher from qifenzheng to yingfenzheng, but from yingfenzheng to xuefenzheng it showed no significant difference. Conclusion: For the patients with MODS, Wei-qi-ying-xue bianzheng is a good methods to separate the clinical stages. It can prognosis the patients by the clinical significance, but also suggestes the changes of TNF-a in the patients'bodies.
