Clinical Study Of Noninvasive Detection Of Premenopausal And Postmenopausal Women In Coronary Endothelial Function By Transthoracic Echocardiography

Objective: To evaluation endothelium function of peri-menopaused women by non-invasive transthoracic echocardiography.Methods: 35 peri-menopaused women aged between 34 and 75 were enrolled in this study and devided into two groups: pre-menopause group and menopause group. Exclusion cretiera was: hypertension,coronary heart disaese,diabeties melitlis,smoking and coronary abnormality. All women have not take any vasoactive drugs or receive hormone replacement therapy recently. B-mode ultrasonography was used to measure vascular reaction in coronary artery. Endothelium-dependent vasodilation was determined by measuring the change in coronary artery diameter during increases in flow induced by cold pressure test. Endothelium-independent vasodilation was measured after sublingual nitroglycerin was administered.Results: The visulization rate of left and right coronary artery is 94.3% and 100%, respectively. The diameter of left coronary artery and right coronary artery show no difference at baseline in the two groups (P value is 0.442,0.188, respectively). However, both cold pressor test and nitroglycerin induced left coronary artery and right coronary artery dialation are of statistical singnificance (P value is 0.022, 0.004, 0.023, 0.002, respectively ) . And there is a negative correlation between age and coronary endithelial function.(r=-0.369 and -0.381, P=0.028,0.034, respectively.)Conclusions: Women's coronary artery diameter does not change after menopause. Women have decreased both endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent vaso-dialation after menopause and transthoracic echocardiography can visualize the majority of coronary artery and transthoracic echocardiography is a noninvasive tool for evaluation.
