Optical radiation is a ubiquitous stressor that may be impacting human and ecological systems on a global scale. To assessment this impact, people start the study of Photobiologycal safety. The concept of "Photobiologycal safety" has been studied for 50 years or more. In that time, what people mainly concerned is ray source. Nowadays, we have known light more, consequently we go on to concern more light sources, such as traditional lamps, laser products and LEDs. Developed countries have made great progress in studying photobiological safety. ICNIRP have made several statements and guidelines, while CIE and IEC have published several standards. In order to know more about Photobiologycal safety, we start this theme. This theme mainly dealt with the research of measurement and assessment of photobiological safety, included the measurement and assessment of coherent and incoherent optical radiation. Based on standards of CIE and IEC, we establish an integrated measurement system, and solved the measurement and assessment of apparent source, pulsed radiation and scanned radiation. This paper first depicts the related principle of Photobiologycal safety and introductions the global actuality. Second it makes a detail introduction of the impact of optical radiation, and depicts the exposure limits recommended by ICNIRP. Third it introductions our measurement system. Fourth it introductions all experimentation and give a detailed analysis of the outcome. In the end, it makes a summarize and gives a expectation of the future work.Based on this theme, we fulfilled our anticipated objective.
