Total hip replacement (THR) is an effective method to treat hip joint disease. It's an advanced technology and is widely used. But it still has its faults. After THR, there are always the problems such as the interface will loose, the artificial hip will break and loose etc. There is more than forty years from the time when the artificial hip was first used. Many people have paid great attention to improve the quality and the lifetime of artificial hip in human body. The shape of artificial hip was not very quite in the early time. Then many people tried to make some improvement of the shape of artificial hip. In the seventies, CAD was used in the design of artificial hip, and it made a great improvement. After that a new kind of artificial hip with a stem cementless was used. And people began to treat the problems after THR in mechanics. Later people began to realize the importance of biology property of bone and started to research the mechanical response of bone in normal and abnormal conditions. The main aim of this paper is to predict the stress of tip after THR using the methods of experiment and FEA simulation. After the experiment and FEA simulation under the condition standing with one leg, we can know the stress distribution of artificial hip and femur when the hip joint is normal after THR. Then we can make deep research on the basement about mechanics response of long time etc. This work is supported by the fund of Scientific and Technological Department of Zhejiang Province.
