Objective : To investigate the expression and significance of Ki-67 and CyclinDl in primary and recrudescent transitional cell carcinoma of bladder (BTCC). Methods: The expressions of Ki-67 and CyclinDl were detected by streptavidin-peroxidase (SP) method of immunohistochemical technique . The paraffin-em bedded tissue sections from 47 patients with TCC of bladder were reexamined.According to the UICC standard, 14 cases had surperficial tumors and 33 cases had invasive tumors. With the pathological diagnostic standard of WHO, there are 21 cases of Gl,22cases of G2 and 4 cases of G3.Meanwhile, there were 33 cases with primary lesions and 14 cases with recurrent lesions. 13 specimens obtained from normal bladders were used as controls. Results: Expression of Ki-67 was observed in 87.23 % of TCCs and 15.38 % of controls ( P< 0.001).There was a significant correlation between Ki-67and tumors stages ( P<0.001),and the same with grades ( P<0.001).Furthermore, the Ki-67 of the cases with recurrent lesions was higher than that of the cases with primary lesions ( P<0.05). Expression of CyclinDl was observed in 91.48% of TCCs and7.69%of controls ( P < 0. 001).There was a significant inverse correlation between CyclinDl and tumors grades (r= -0.384,P<0.01). Conclusions: The determination of Ki-67 and CyclinDl can accurately evaluate the biological behaviour of BTCC.
