object: To probe the pathogenesis of epilepsy in the aspect of neurotransmitter, demonstrate the clinical effect of DTC by experimental method and study its mechanism of action in epilepsy. Methods: 40 adult Wistar rats were divided into four groups at random (stratified according to their sex and weight) : normal group, model groups , Chinese herbs group and Western medicine group. A week later, all the rats were include to epilepsy by PTZ by the improved Dihel epileptic model method . The grade of onset was determined by Smialowki standard after kindle and their level of Na+-K~+-ATPase and MDA of all the epileptic brains were detected. Result : the level of Na+-K+-ATPase of all the epileptic brains were decreased and the level of MDA increased compared with those of normal group ( P <0.05),DTC can lower the onset grade of epilepsy (P <0.05) and increase Na*-K*-ATPase and decrease MDA in epileptic rats brains . Conclusion : The activity of ATPase and liquid peroxide may be primary causes for epilepsy. DTC can reduce the attack grade, improve the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase and prevent liquid peroxide. The DTC has no significance compared with the carbamazepine group and is an optimal anti-epilepsy prescription .
