Background:The disorder of lipoprotein is one of the major danger factors which can result in coronary artery diseases , stroke or hypertension. The disorder of lipoprotein can induce different degrees of scleroses in blood vessels of whole body. Therefore to adjust the lipide is the usual manner to prevent and cure atherosclerosis. Nowadays most of the medicines to cure atherosclerosis are west medicines.The price of these medicines is very high and furthermore to take these medicines for a period of time can induce the abnormity in liver and kidney. So we must develop the Chinese herbal medicine compounds to settle for the needs of clinic. Many scholars think atherosclerosis is one kind of the chronic inflammations. The relationship between atherosclerosis and immunology is very consanguineous. Consequently the research of the immune mechanism is a kind of new way to prevent and cure atherosclerosis by Chinese herbal medicine .Objectives: To explore the relationship between hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis by setting up hyperlipidemia models of New Zealand rabbits. To study the immune mechanism of ZHI-MAI-KANG to control the development of atherosclerosis.Methods: 1. To set up hyperlipidemia models of New Zealand rabbits. 2.TO observe the pathological changes in endarterium and liver. 3. To study the effects of ZHI-MAI-KANG by detecting the levels of C-reactive protein and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 through ELISA. 4. To study the effects of ZHI-MAI-KANG by detecting the levels the gene of lowdensity lipoprotein receptor through ISHH(in situ hybridization histochemistry).Results: 1. A hyperlipidemia model was successfully established by using high-fat diet in New Zealand rabbits. 2. ZHI-MAI-KANG can effectively reduce the level of lipids and regulate the levels of C-reactive protein and intercellular adhesion molecule-1. It can increase the levels of the gene of lowdensity lipoprotein receptorConclusions: ZHI-MAI-KANG can effectively reduce the level of lipids and improve the condition of atherosclerosis ,at the same time, it can effectively regulate the immune functions on the levels of gene of lowdensity lipoprotein receptor.
