This article is intended to study the action of Puerarin about resisting the cerebral ischemic-reperfusional damage from several levels ,such as cytology, whole animal model and clinical curative effect, etc. And discuss its action mechanisms. In studying of cytology, observed the protective effects of Puerarin on cultured cerebral cells damaged by Adriamycin in neonatal rats, the effects of Puerarin on anoxia-reoxygenation injury of cultured cerebral cells in neonatal rat;In the model of whole animal, Observed the effects of Puerarin on the focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and acute incomplete cerebral ischemia-reperfution injury in rats, measured thd activety of mitochondrial dehydrogenase, superxide dismutase(SOD), GSH-Px, etc. Observed thd targets of malondialdehyde (MDA), free calcium level in cultured neonatal cerebral cell, membrane fluidity, and observed the charges of ultrastructure of cerebral cell. It was found that Puerarin could increase the activity of mitochondrial dehydrogenase, superxide dismutase(SOD), GSH-Px,decrease the content of MDA, free calciumin cerebral cell and membrane fluidity, lighten the charges of ultrastructure of cerebral cell induced by ischemia-reperfusion injury. The Results indicated that Puerarin has protective action as to cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury ,this study suggested the protect function mechanism is may be related to its resisting free radical damage, expanding brain blood vessel, resisting cell calcium overload, etc.
