This paper was divided into two parts. The first is abouttheoretical research and the following contents were reportedsuch as theories of literature, the diabetic nephropathy'name, the major caused and cured methods in traditional chinesemedicine ,pathology and therapeutic situation of westernmedicine. The academic ideology of our advisor-professor LinLan had been summaried. In view of the idea that early diabetic nephropathy (DN) iscaused by both Qi and Yin deficiency with bloodstagnation, professor Lin Lan invented TangWeiKang(aprescription of traditional Chinese medicine) ,which improvedsymptoms and signs and showed good effect on the treatment ofDN.Principle of treatment is to Reinforcing Qi and nourishingYin and improving blood circulation. We still have carried outanimal experimental research in order to expain the effectmechanism of TangWeiKang. The rat's streptozotocin (55mg/kg) coeliac injection wasperformed one weeks after unilateral nephrectomy. In this way,DN in rats could present more quickly and worse than simple STZinjection. The model rats were divided into six groups. Therewere treating group with TangWeiKang (three doses) ,pathological group and treating group with captoril andmetformin. In addition , the rats experienced unilateralnephrectomy were made as control. The results of three months'observation showed that Tang Wei Kang could reduce bloodglucose and glycosylated hemoglobin , regulate abnormal bloodfat metabolism , improve blood rheology, alleviate plateletadhesiveness and aggregation, decrease urinary proteinexcretion, save renal function and improve pathological changesin DN model rats.It could prolong the pathological course of DN.
